Swim Team News

Roton Point was awarded the very prestigious Phillip R. Goode Award at the conclusion of Saturday’s County Swimming Championship.   

This award is given annually to the Fairfield County Swim League club that has shown the most improvement at dual and championship meets compared to the prior year.  The FCSL Board of Governors votes to select the winner.  Kathy Finnegan, our Division 3 chair, nominated Roton when asked to identify possible candidates in Division 3.

 Three clubs were tied for this award with the final determination made after comparing the three clubs’ performances at this year’s Counties to last year’s.  Dennis and Brendan accepted the trophy from FCSL president Jeanne Hannigan.  The trophy is a large silver bowl that Roton will keep for one year.  Once our name has been engraved, the bowl will be proudly displayed.  Roton last won this award in 1985.

Diving Team practice will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, and Swim Team practices will be held Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

Water Polo practice will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.

Swim meets and related events are run by Roton Point volunteers. Your help is needed and would be greatly appreciated.  Please contact Stacy, Noreen or Erica.

During Swim & Water Polo Meets some or all pools may be closed. Please check our list of 2008 pool closings.

2008 Pool Hours

The pool opens Saturday, May 24th.

May 24 - June 18:

Weekdays: 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Weekends: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

June 18 - September 1:

9:30 am to 8:00 pm daily (weather permitting)

No open or lap swimming during swim team practice (9:00 am - 11:00 am, Mon - Fri) or during swim meets (check calendar).

Adult Swim (June 18th - Labor Day)

No children (17 & under) from June 20 through Labor Day:

Weekdays: 9:00-9:30 am, 3:00 - 3:30 pm, 
Weekends: 9:00-9:30 am, 12:30 - 1:00 pm,

Laps

Two lanes reserved for laps during open swim.

Pool Swim Lessons

Private and Semi-Private lessons for adults & children are available.

This season the swim lesson program will be run by Roton Point and managed by Brendan Perry. Sign-up for lessons starting Memorial Day weekend.
