General
Information
The sailing program is open to all children, ages 8-18, of unit
owners and licensees. Students learn sailboat handling skills, water
safety, boat rigging and basic racing strategy aboard Optimists, Lasers,
and Blue Jays. There are morning classes for novice sailors and
afternoon classes for more experienced sailors, who will also have the
opportunity to participate in JSA (Junior Sailing Association of Long
Island Sound) regattas.
Junior sailing classes are coordinated with the swim team and tennis
clinics so juniors can participate in all three activities.
Classes start Monday June 25th, and will run for seven consecutive
weeks (through August 11th). Sailors need to sign up for weeks 1-4, while
additional weeks are optional.
Don't forget about Friday Parent's Day. Take a look at some of last
years pictures. We will again
have this program in place for this season.
Class space is limited and will be assigned on a first-
come-first-served basis, so parents of would-be participants should
return application forms as soon as possible.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Any parent interested in assisting
in a junior sailing social event or would like to sit on the newly
formed junior sailing committee should contact the main office for more
details.
