Regatta Notice
RPJSA strongly encourages sailor participation in regattas. The regatta experience is essential to the development of the sailor as they test their skills independently without the direct coaching of an instructor.
Regattas are not part of the regular junior sailing program however the junior sailing program provides support to sailors that attend these extracurricular events.
The sailing director and instructors will facilitate the registration process for the junior sailors; however it is the ultimate responsibility of the sailor’s family to notify the instructors in writing on the junior sailing bulletin board.
In accordance with the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound guidelines when three or more sailors enter a regatta Roton Point Junior Sailing will send an instructor with the regatta participants. In addition, a boat will be sent along with an instructor if the needs of the program at Roton Point are fully met. If a junior sailor requests an instructor when there are less than 3 sailors participating in a regatta the junior sailor will have an additional fee for the hours that the instructor is with your child.
Additional fees will also be charged if the instructor is supervising the sailor beyond the normal workday and work week.
Roton Point junior sailing instructors are not responsible for the transportation of any junior sailor to or from an event.
Roton Point junior sailing has a trailer for member use. In order to use the trailer members must have a compatible trailer hitch and have experience driving a trailer. Members are responsible for any damage done to the trailer. Vehicle registration and plates must be obtained from the general manager.
