Opening
Ceremony on Memorial Day
We had a beautiful day, and it was possible to hold the traditional
Commissioning Ceremony, led for the first time by RPSA Commodore
Mike Smith, at the flagpost.
Mike introduced the other members of the RPSA board and
laid down the theme for this summer: getting more people out
onto the water and having fun. He also asked for a moment's
silence in memory of those Roton Pointers who had passed away during the past
year.
RPA President Jeff Konspore introduced those members of the RPA
Board who were present, and Club Manager Ernie LaRocca introduced
key members of his staff.
After two cannon blasts and the
raising of the Stars and Stripes, Commodore Mike declared Roton Point
open for the summer.
Then, with the keg pumping beer, and several bottles of wine,
the summer really did begin!
Regatta Dinner
The Saturday evening regatta dinner is always a very
popular event. It is open to all Roton Pointers in addition
to regatta participants. This year the dinner will be held
on Saturday, September 15.
Annual Sailing Awards Dinner
The annual sailing awards dinner, open to all Roton
Pointers, marks the end of the sailing season. This year,
the dinner will be held on Saturday, October 27, at 6:30
pm. |
